1.    When Jasmine makes lemonade she uses 6 lemons for every litre of water. How many lemons does she need for

i)     2 litres of water?    _2x6=12_double the lemons and it makes 12________

ii)    3 litres of water?    3x6=18  ________

iii)   10 litres of water?   6x10=60

2.   Devinda is doing some baking. When he uses his mum's recipe he can make 8 muffins. When he doubled the recipe he gets 16 muffins. How many lots of the recipe does he need to make

i)     24 muffins?     ___2 recipes __double the recipe 3 times _____

ii)    32 muffins?     __3 recipes____double the recipe 4 times_____

iii)   56 muffins?     __7 recipes_____double the recipe 7 times_

A farmer is selling some of his animals.
1.  The farmer sells ¼ of his 72 cows.  Show how to work out how many cows he sold.

half 72 is 4 group.There are 18 in each groups. 4 x 18=72  18+18+18+18=72   18+18=36    18+18=36+36 72  he sold 18 sheeps  

2. He sells ⅓ of his 45 pigs.  Show how to work out how many pigs he sells.

half 45 into 3 groups.There are 15 in each group. 3 x 15=45  15 sheep were sold.

3.   He sells ⅙ of his 84 sheep.  Show how to work out                                 how many sheep he sells.

    half 84 in 6 groups.There are 14 in each group                                       6x14=84  he 14 sheeps were sold.

Read the text and put in the correct word.

It's early morning on frog pond. As the sun rises, light sparkles on the water (1).    All sorts of  pond animals are waking up. The (2) busy day is beginning.

    At the edge of  the (3) pond, a little green frog sits on a pondweed(4) in the water. He

is hidden here among  the  (5) floating plants. He keeps very still and very quiet(6).

His big, bulging eyes are watching. He's watching  for (7) dragonflies. He's watching for

slugs and worms. He's looking (8) for flies. This little frog is hungry for  flies (9).

    Someone else is hungry too. A dragonfly hums from (10) above the water. She is a fierce

hunter, searching  (11) for insects. She hovers near a clump of   flies(12). She can fly in

any direction, even backwards and (13) sideways. Like the frog, she has very

big  eyes (14). Suddenly she spots a fly crawling up a leaf (15). She swoops down

like an arrow and grabs  the(16) fly with her powerful front legs. Gripping it

wings (17), she munches away at it with her sharp teeth  (18) parts.

    The little frog has seen all this  (19). He turns very slightly. He's ready to pounce,

on (20)  he keeps very still. He hopes that the   dragonfly(21) will take off towards him

when she's finished eating(22). He hopes she won't notice him sitting

still behind (23) green among the pondweed. Soon she flies  away(24).

One early morning my brother,my dad and I  went fishing with my dad fishing.We went with my dad friends’ boat.  on his boat my brother and I hopped in the car and waited.My dad  put 3 fishing rods in the boat with the bait and life jacket’s we headed to St Hellies. My dad reversed down into the water were it was shallow. The tralior was in the water  my brother and we  jumped into the boat we drove off into the very deep side it was still dark .

We took out our fishing rods and began fishing  I caught I first fish I was not the kind of fish I thought I would catch.I threw back my fishing line my line felt very hard I was trying to reel in my line.My dad help my we were half way there I saw the fish it was small  it was called a snapper I caught some few fishers and I took a nap.We went back home because there were no more bait left so we headed back home.

I am a young Male my face is round like a ball. I have straight  black hair and dark brown eyes.I have brown skin. I'm fast and my favourite subject is maths.I love playing rugby with my friend. I have dark brown eyes and black eyelashes.I have straight hair. I'm short and slender.I like eating health food.I  laugh  like a monkey I have a tiny nose and small lips. I like telling scary stories with my friends.

WHY YOU SHOULD NOT LITTER

You should not litter because there might be lots of rubbish everywhere and the world would
turn into a dump. The world will be full of diseases illness and it will be a horrible place to live.

At our school we have a rule that we pick up rubbish and that why our school St Pius X Catholic School is the best school ever. Many people in my class agree with me when we discussed the issue and when some visitor will come and look at our school and it just rubbish everywhere

Mary Mackilliop show

On Thursday our school had the privilege of seeing a play about Mary Mackillop in our school hall and why she became the first saint from New Zealand and Australian . Mary Mackillop was born in Australia and the Mackillop family was poor and need some food . Their was a man who's name was Scott and there was a girl who name was Julia where performed the play. I thought that Scott was funny and the crowd laughing at him and Mary Mackillop was played by Julie

Scott had riped clothes and Mary Mackillop told Scott to go to Saint Joseph home and they will help you and your family . When Scott came back he told Mary Mackillop that her sister died . Mary Mackillop want to go to see her sister and she need a ride a short distance to see her sister even though she was dead. She went to the place but there were people drinking in this place and a man , Kelly, and Mary Mackillop went to see her sister after she died.

Another part of the play told us about when Mary’s Dad was milking the cow and need to push the cows and seven people had to push this one cow and Scott told them your standing on the cow would work. After the helpers finished they sat back down and after an few more parts of the story it revealed that Mary was now a Saint . Many members of her family were happy that Mary Mackillop was a Saint. Even Mr Coakley had a part in the play as he had to throw a pillow to Scoot and to try and land on the billy cart.

Well I enjoyed the show and I now feel I know Mary Mackillop better.

MATARIKI PEOPLE

On Tuesday afternoon we went to the hall and listened to how to make a kite room3,4,5,6 was their we use a string,paper,sticks, we followed instruction to how to make a kite .When we finished making our kites we had to colour in the kites and doctorate the kite and we finished that each class room had a turn to fly there kite it was room3,then4,5,6 we looked at Awesome kites fun working with the Matariki people.

Flossie Teacake by Hunter Davies

Today I read Flossie Teacakes by Hunter Davies it is about Flossie and what she wanted to wear.It talked about what she should wear. They keep there room tide and some don't but Flossie wisest of them as if she was not all the rules would had changed.In page 61 a woman, it could be Flossie, is outside looking out in a shoe shop. The illustrator has used very effective pencil drawing to catch my eye. So far I have enjoyed the book but I may no read another book by this author.

Dear Dad,

I miss being in the lounge at home in the evening, as the dugout is so, yuck. So much mud and other stuff I don’t know how to describe it to you. You know what, I am glad the war is far from home .

Some guys from our troop died the last time we went over the top and so the team of volunteers who signed up from our town will be fewer when we get home, but most of us are survivors to the end and we will get back home.

The enemy keep throw grenades at us and the canon shells explode near us or just beyond us . The other morning the aircraft even bombed us .

So Europe at war looks a mess. You see any newspapers headlines about the British Empire and Len Coley from Palmerston North?.
